Trench diggers

After about 15 days most of my triops were over an inch big. They spend a lot of time walking or swimming over the sand and searching for food. By doing so they leave trenches as they dig they way. If I look in my aquarium from the top it looks almost like a freshly plowed field. But the lines are not always straight.

Later I watched my triops digging big holes in the sand. I assume they lay their eggs in them. But on the other hand it could just be a different way of looking for food. After about three weeks the biggest of my triops is almost 2 inches long (including the tail). I never saw any two triops together and I have now idea how they mate, but I will find out in the summer when I have more time.
